Finding a Replacement Before Firing an Employee?

How many times have you been on an interview to find out that the person you’re supposedly replacing is still in that role? It’s happened to me three times.

In one instance, I was met in the lobby by three people with low whispers and quickly shuffled to a side conference room. Once we got settled they explained that the existing IT Director was still employed, and they weren’t going to fire him/her until they had picked out a replacement.

I was a little uneasy about the situation because, quite frankly, I didn’t like the way that employee was being treated. If I joined this organization, how were they going to treat me?
